Salvation

Salvation

We would like for you to consider something that we are all familiar with.  During a trial, the burden of proof always lies with the prosecution—the defendant is innocent until proven guilty.  One day you will stand before the Judge of all mankind.  Will you be found innocent or guilty on that day?

Let us examine the evidence, and consider God’s moral Law according to the Bible, His standards of what is right and wrong.  Have you ever told a lie?  (Including white lies and fibs).  Have you ever stolen anything? (No matter the value).  Have you ever looked with lust at anyone you were not married to?  Jesus said, “..That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28 KJV)

If you have broken these Laws, you are a liar, a thief, and an adulterer-at-heart and by your own testimony, you would be guilty. Have you ever used God’s name in vain?  We would never use our mothers name as a curse word.  Why?  Because it would be disrespectful, yet man thinks nothing of taking the holy name of God and using it to show disgust.  That is blasphemy!

The Bible says that the wages or payment for sin is death, an eternity in hell (Rom. 6:23; Luke 16:23-24).  Does this concern you?  God knows your every thought, word, and deed, and your conscience confirms that you are guilty.  What will you say in your defense?  No amount of good works will help your case.  The Bible says, “there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Romans 3:12 KJV) “..all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags:”(Isaiah 64:6 KJV)

The good news is, God who is rich in mercy, has provided a way for your penalty to be paid!  Jesus Christ suffered, bled, and died on a cruel cross in your place, taking the punishment for your crimes against a Holy God.  Then after three days and three nights He rose from the dead.  Repent now (turn from whatever it is you are trusting in) place your trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you. “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,.. (Acts 3:19 KJV).   And God will declare you “not guilty” and your “faith in Christ” will be counted as righteousness.

The Bible says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10 KJV)

Our prayer here at Landmark is that you will trust Jesus Christ as your Savior today.  If you have done that, begin reading your Bible daily and obey what you read.  Come visit us and let us encourage you to trust and obey the Word of God and be scripturally baptized! (Acts 8:12-13,37-38 KJV)

“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation”; (Hebrews 2:3 KJV)
